I decided to mix things up a bit and give you all a recipe my grandmother always made for Sunday dinner when I was a little girl. I saw this on another site and it took me back in time. Today my daughter is blogging with me as a guest. She is my super-duper photographer! 🙂 I hope you enjoy this timeless classic. There is a twist to this recipe. If you don’t like mayonnaise, you can use cream cheese and crushed pineapple (drained) for the filling. Here we go!
Step 1: You can either use canned pears in heavy syrup or pear preserves. I used a can of pears in the syrup. Lift it out with a fork. Make sure the pear is drained well of the syrup. You can place it on a lettuce leaf if you would like as decoration.
Step 2: Stuff pear with Miracle Whip! DO NOT use real mayonnaise!! It just is not nearly as good!!
Step 3: Add mild cheddar cheese (grated).
Voila! You are done! This is quick, easy, and sure to please on any dinner table or for a church supper. Enjoy!!
We used to fix that too! Thanks for reminding me though. I will do it again soon but I think I will try it with cream cheese. You can put cream cheese on a bumper and it would be good. Hahahahaha
LOL!!! So true…love cream cheese…when you do call me! :))
My grand mother use to serve it on a leaf of lettuce. Love it!
Doesn’t it take you back in time? Yes, mine did, too….I forgot the lettuce when I went to the grocery store though…lol…thanks, Renee!!
