James 5

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

9 Brothers, do not complain about one another, so that you will not be judged. Look, the judge stands at the door!

John 13:35

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

35 By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I have heard many times and for many years that church is a hospital for the hurting.  Let’s think about this for a moment.  Do you ever see doctors in a hospital giving preferential treatment?  Do you see them seeing the “prettier” people first?  Do they see the people with fewer personality issues before the others and do they ever say, “You aren’t cute enough for the hospital, or funny enough, or dressed like we like, or drive what we like, or live in what we like therefore we cannot help you.”   If they did, they would be sued for malpractice!  This would be and is totally unacceptable!  A life is a life and one is just as valuable as another!  Yet, in our church “hospitals” we DO see this!

“You aren’t in OUR age group, so you have to go somewhere else, you aren’t in the same tax bracket, you don’t have the same initials behind your name we have behind ours, you talk more than we do, you laugh too loud”, etc. and so on!  Disgusting!  I have seen people in church who only pray for “their group”!  Completely unacceptable!  Let me tell you how God feels about this!  He is spewing these people right out of His mouth!  They are a stench in His nostrils!!  Why?  Because this is exactly the way His Son, Jesus was treated as He was being murdered!!

He was not accepted, loved, or stood by when He needed someone most!  He was ridiculed and ostracized!  Jesus was mocked and laughed at!  If this is how you are treating ANYONE in your church, check your salvation!   Yes, you heard me, SALVATION!  The Bible says you will know them by the love they have one for another!  Not the love they have for the ones they like!!  You can easily “love” those you like!  We don’t walk by “like” when we are His disciples, we walk by the love of GOD!  We walk in a supernatural love, a forebearing love, because believe me, none of us are without our quirks (personality defects)!!

If we are a hospital for the hurting and sinners, then have the protocol God calls for.  Be mature and don’t just gravitate to certain ones.  James tells us without any doubt what this protocol should and should not be.

James 2

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Sin of Favoritism

2 My brothers, do not show favoritism as you hold on to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ.2 For example, a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and dressed in fine clothes, and a poor man dressed in dirty clothes also comes in. 3 If you look with favor on the man wearing the fine clothes and say, “Sit here in a good place,” and yet you say to the poor man, “Stand over there,” or, “Sit here on the floor by my footstool,” 4 haven’t you discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

5 Listen, my dear brothers: Didn’t God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that He has promised to those who love Him?

8 Indeed, if you keep the royal law prescribed in the Scripture, Love your neighbor as yourself,[a] you are doing well. 9 But if you show favoritism, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.

Discrimination and favoritism!  It is what is wrong with our nation today!  Men against women, women against men, White people against black people, black people against white people!  I tell you GOD IS NOT IN ANY OF IT!  If you are a Christian, no matter your gender, color, race, or tax bracket YOU ARE ALL THE SAME, EQUAL IN ALL WAYS!

Let me give you an example.  I can say this because I am a woman!  You let women get together for a cause, and it doesn’t matter what color they are, what they drive, or anything else.  Those women see each other as one thing…WOMEN!  They will let you know what they think about equal pay, rights, and benefits as WOMEN!  They don’t divide off into groups according to color, creed, or race!  They are women and they are on the same team!!  They are in unity because what they are fighting for effects one group in their minds…WOMEN!

Now how did these women come together in every color, nationality, and economic group?  They had a cause that required unity and there was no diversity unless you weren’t a woman!  It is the same with Christians!  If you are a Christian, we are ALL on the same team!  There is NO DIVERSITY!  WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN, THEREFORE WE ARE FOR ONE ANOTHER, NO MATTER WHAT!  WE ARE THE SAME AND EQUAL IN EVERY WAY!!  Are you getting this, dear reader??

The days of my side your side is over!  We must come together as God’s family!!  We must love ALL Christians and be unified to win the world for Christ AND grow the body!!  Stop letting the devil stump your spiritual growth by dividing you!!

What are we? FAMILY!  What are we for??  THE CAUSE OF CHRIST!  I have two children.  One is blonde the other has brown hair.  Do you think I am so ridiculous as to love the brown headed child more than the blonde or vice versa??  They are my children!!  I love them both, no matter what hair color they have!  God is the same.  To Him there is neither Jew nor Greek, male or female!  We better be following His example in this!  It is a requirement, not a suggestion!  Anything else is sin and you are already shooting yourself in the foot, so to speak!

Be mature, be wise, be loving and be unified!  Get rid of your false pretentions and silly prejudices!  God has had enough of it and I certainly hope the Christian community has as well!!  You will never be truly effective for God until you do and you don’t have time to NOT be effective!   He stands with His hand on the knob!  Are you ready to give final answers?  I pray you are, and I am as well!!  Juliana

God bless you! I'd love to hear your thoughts!
