keep moving forward

Before I begin my article, I want to say to everyone who was affected by what happened in Boston yesterday, my prayers are with you, precious hearts!  It is horrendous and I pray the evil one(s) that did this are found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!  This is another sobering reminder we are in the last days and how lawlessness will run rampant during this time.  I am praying for peace and comfort for all the citizens of Boston and all of America!  May God bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time!  In His love…Juliana

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

I live in Texas.  Texas has an insect we call fire ants.  The reason we call them that is because they can get on you and you never feel them crawling on you but suddenly, as they swarm your feet and legs,  they begin to sting all at once.  You literally feel like you are on fire the sting is so painful!  You learn to watch where you are stepping in the grass because once they begin to build their beds you can walk right into one and never realize it until it is too late.

When we were children, we learned to watch out for these fire ant beds at a very young age.  We learned we could tap our feet in the bed quickly without getting stung because it would take a few seconds for the ants to surface.  We would then watch them speedily go to work to rebuild the place that had been damaged by our feet.  It was mesmerizing to watch.

Today, as I was spending time in prayer, the Lord brought this to my mind.  In life you are going to have setbacks, disappointments, and people are going to let you down, and even step on you, so to speak.  That is why Jesus said to take up our cross and follow Him!  It doesn’t say to take up our cross and follow man.  It says in the Old Testament anyone who puts their confidence in the arm of the flesh is DOOMED for disappointment!  Doomed is a strong word…it literally means disappointment is unavoidable in a situation like that!  Life is not going to be perfect, because people run things and they are not perfect!

People are going to step on your dreams at times, your hard work may be overlooked, you may not be respected and appreciated as you should be, but you have to keep moving forward!!  You can’t stop and say, “I just don’t have the energy to rebuild this mess, I can’t do this anymore, it is just too hard, I can’t take another disappointment, I am tired of trying to have friendships just to be let down, etc..”   What has happened?  You have let heartache, upset, and disappointment affect your faith!

When the Israelites were in the desert, they complained against God.  They were continually saying, “It is too hard!  Oh, that we were back in Egypt!”  For forty years they went around and around the same mountain, when in all actuality it was a three day trip!  What was happening?  God was waiting and giving them the chance to have faith in His promise that He would give them a land that flowed with milk and honey, a land that burst with prosperity and good things.  All they had to do was move forward in faith and take it!  Instead they saw all the negatives and murmured against God, Who had daily showered them in miracles and still they doubted!  No faith, no progress!  Their lack of faith kept them from obtaining what was a sure thing!

You may say to me, “Juliana, I know all of that!  I have heard faith taught all of my life!”  I have, too!  But, something I was noticing in my own life was I was not as built in faith as I had been at one time.  I love how Gloria Copeland puts it, I had not kept my faith “current”!  I had, had great faith throughout the years, but there were times I didn’t read or confess the Word as I should have.  In Romans 10:17 it says “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.”  My faith was not as strong because I wasn’t reading and meditating on the Word as I should have been.  In fact, if the truth be told, I had become so concentrated on what was happening to me and toward me, it got me totally off focus as to what God wanted to do FOR me and that was move me forward into better things!

God’s plan is always good, but we can never move forward into the place Jeremiah 29:11 speaks of, if we don’t keep our faith in God and the Word of God “current”!  Jeremiah 29:11 tells us plainly what God’s will is for us…

Jeremiah 29:11

Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

11 For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

This is your future and mine if we will stay in the Word and allow the Word to root in our minds and hearts, not what we see at the moment!  Where is our faith today?  In people or in God?  Let us make sure our faith is well placed and that is in God, Who stands by His Word to PERFORM it on our behalf!!  Stay in the Word and stay in current and “today” faith.  We will surely see it happen and right on time if we keep moving forward and stop looking back at a past nothing can be done about!  Have faith in God to bring you out with a victory shout!!!

Blessings, dear reader!!  I will see you soon!  Juliana
