I just watched an interview with Robin Roberts which was conducted by Diane Sawyer. She was just as beautiful as always. Robin spoke through heartfelt tears, and with the grace and elegance she always possesses! She said two things that really hit me with an imagery I had not associated with these particular statements although I have heard them many times before.
The first thing she said that really caught my attention and I truly had an epiphany over was her mom always said, “With each new day you get a clean slate! Go fill it! Don’t look at yesterday’s slate, write today’s!” No one is perfect. It doesn’t matter if you are a CEO of a company you built from the ground up, a published author on “how to get life right”, or any other type of “expert”, we are human and we don’t always get it right! God never expected us to be perfect, but He does expect us to shoot for the best He has put in us! But, even then when we miss it, His mercy kicks in as does His grace!
The second thing Robin said was, and isn’t it amazing the greatest advice you ever get and what you hold onto during times of even life and death situations is the advice your mother gave you! Her mother gave the same advice I took from Joyce Meyer years ago and it is go to bed when you are having a bad day! She said her mother said, “When you are having a day that isn’t going well at all, go to bed and end it! Just go to bed, even if it is 2 o’clock in the afternoon!” What was the first thing Elijah did after finding out Jezebel had a hit out on him for killing her false prophets and running away? God told him to sleep, the journey was too much right then! He went to bed! He ended that day, so he would have the strength and sharpness of mind to do what he was instructed of God to do next. EVERYTHING always looks better the next morning! Why? Because God gives us the faith to realize it is a new day, we are given a new slate, and we are rested and can think more clearly! NEVER make a decision at night after a bad day! Ever hear the expression, “Let me sleep on it”? This is why! Everything looks and IS different the next day!
I don’t know a great deal about Robin Roberts other than I think she is a good anchor and a positive lady and she is my age. I wondered if she knew the Lord and I pray she does! I pray her healing will manifest and never again will she have to suffer with cancer or any other terminal illness!
Whatever her spiritual condition may be, God used her words to remind me of very important and life and day changing attitudes! How simple they are, yet how powerful! Blessings to you, precious reader! Fill your slate, and remember every day of your life fresh mercy and grace awaits you! Live it in joy! Juliana
