In 2 Chronicles King Jehoshaphat and Judah faced nations that had united together to destroy them. Sound familiar? Jehoshaphat was well acquainted with terrorism! His country did not have the army nor the resources to protect itself against these nations that surrounded him and his fellow countrymen! They weren’t just making threats, dear reader, they had showed up and surrounded them and they were intent on killing every single one of them! I think they sat in those hills just to terrorize them a little more! That is what bullies do. They want to bully you and watch you sweat. They get some type of sick satisfaction out of their imagined power and your so-called lack of ability to defend yourself. It is savagery to the nth degree!
Jehoshaphat knew he was outnumbered and he didn’t stand a chance. A good ruler will ALWAYS put his country and the citizens of that country first. Notice Jehoshaphat didn’t go and apologize to the leaders of these enemy countries or try to pay them off or reason with the unreasonable! He went straight to the head of it all and that is our God!! He didn’t try to hide anything from the citizens of his country. He called a prayer meeting! There was no “separation of church and state” and if you will notice when America is facing dire odds the first words out of even liberal media is “pray”! Funny, when you are staring down the barrel of a gun or a nuclear weapon is pointed at you and your loved ones, interpretation of constitutional law goes right out the window! Ironic isn’t it?
The first thing this great king did was humble himself! He flat out told God in front of everybody he had no idea what to do, but his eyes were on God because he knew He did! Now notice something else! God didn’t speak directly to the king but he spoke through a young man, a citizen of the country! Leaders, you are not elected to represent yourselves, you are elected to represent the people and the interest of the people who have elected you! Man may put you in power through their votes, but God can take you down from power faster than you can blink! God will not be mocked and He will take care of His own! You are responsible to God first and the Lord Jesus Christ and people second! This IS A CHRISTIAN NATION!! I cannot believe anyone with a law degree does not understand the very history of a country they are supposed to represent! I also wonder if they flunked “Constitutional Law 101” and for whatever reason, got pushed through the system anyway. Or maybe the laws of this land and the principles upon which they are built mean nothing to certain ones and they will do what they want just to show you they can. Maybe it is an ego power surge. Whatever it is don’t think God doesn’t see it!
With God there is NO COLOR, GENDER, OR CLASS OF PEOPLE. I don’t care if you are red, yellow, black or white, male or female! The Bible even says that is how God sees it! There is neither Jew nor Greek the Word says! Man divided man into categories and all that has gotten us is TROUBLE! The only two categories God sees is SAVED AND UNSAVED! The only color God sees is red, which is the blood of Jesus! You say you love God and want to see as His eyes see? Then stop looking at color, denominations, and gender!! If you are a Christian, believe Jesus is the only way to salvation then other Christians are in YOUR CATEGORY no matter how much or little they make, no matter what color or nationality they are! Oh and let me add this….a Christian will NOT BE ILLEGALLY IN A COUNTRY! Christians are commanded by God to uphold the laws of the land and that is what they do!! They don’t sneak around to see what they can get by with. They trust God to open doors for them and He does! I didn’t intend to say all of this, but glory to God, we are going to let Him have His way!
The young man, Jahaziel, spoke a prophecy. Through him the Lord told the people not to have any fear, but to go out to against the enemy for the battle was THE LORD’S! He told Jehoshaphat to send the praisers out first and He would take it from there, so to speak. Sure enough, Israel sang and praised God! 2 Chronicles 20:21 says they sang….Praise the Lord; for His mercy endureth forever”
As they sang and PRAISED GOD, 2 Chronicles 20:22-25 says this is what happened:
22 The moment they began their shouts and praises, the Lord set an ambush against the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir who came to fight against Judah, and they were defeated. 23 The Ammonites and Moabites turned against the inhabitants of Mount Seir and completely annihilated them. When they had finished with the inhabitants of Seir, they helped destroy each other.
24 When Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked for the large army, but there were only corpses lying on the ground; nobody had escaped. 25 Then Jehoshaphat and his people went to gather the plunder. They found among them[a] an abundance of goods on the bodies[b] and valuable items. So they stripped them until nobody could carry any more. They were gathering the plunder for three days because there was so much
Glory to God, He not only won the victory for them HE MADE THEM RICH, TOO!!! There was not a deficit in that country! Why? Because they had a king with sense enough to humble himself and admit God had to instruct him because he didn’t have all the answers but he knew the One Who did! I can recall two presidents we have had attitudes like that and to this day they are referred to for their great leadership! They are Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan! Their legacy of faith lives on and they are honored and remembered for their wisdom to this day!
As I was praying in the Spirit this past summer God gave me a prophecy. I cannot share it all, but one statement I can share. God spoke to me “Love comes softly, but goes forth boldly”! God is calling us, dear reader to step away from the status quo. He is calling us to line our beliefs, words, and actions with His Word with no deviation into opinion! If we will humble ourselves and praise as King Jehoshaphat did God will do as He said in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
The choice is ours. Let us always follow God! He is the One we can never stand up to with excuses! We WILL answer for every idle word and every thing we did. God means it when He says, “28 Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
Do what is right in the eyes of God, dear reader, and even when the day of adversity comes you will always be blessed and protected! God does not forget your faithfulness! Blessings to you! See you next time!
